Haiti Relief is Haitians in the Puget Sound working for Haitian culture here and relief in Haiti, mostly as our name suggest, Haiti Relief. We didn't startup with the earthquake but long before. We have recognize the desperate condition that our beloved country has been in for years and we want to provide these needy people of our homeland with help, help from America. Now that this horrible earthquake has come and wreck havoc on our land, the need for Haiti Relief is even greater. We want to provide our people with help from the good folks in America. We want to help with the collection and accountable distribution of the critically needed food and drink, shelter and medical needs.
Food
The U.N.'s has estimated that there are over 2 million people in Haiti that need food, but only about a quarter of that number has received some so the food that we all need. Others in the thousands are pressing against food-distribution sites even as some swing sticks to beat back their neighbors and the Haitian police swing sticks to beat back both those who swing sticks to and the crowd. Food is desperately needed.
Drink
Without good clean water, contamination problems set in early were fecal and organic pollution can cause major health problems like dysentery, diarrhea and dehydration.Following the natural disaster of this devastating earthquake, hundreds of people have died without access to clean or safe water and 50 percent of the currently hospitals population in Haiti is due to dirty water and water borne diseases. The people of Haiti don’t just need bottle water but more creation of wells and other ongoing sources of clean water would truly be a blessing to a land of folks that are accustomed to walking five miles for this basic need, water.
Shelter
Haiti's hundreds of thousands of earthquake homeless persons are pleading for tents but real properly build long lasting homes and public buildings are need. Haiti need to both train its populous to construct architecturally sound homes as well as get funding or loans to actually build the massive number of safe housing needed along with public buildings like schools, hospitals and community clinics.
Medical Needs
The post-quake needs of Haiti's people have eluded the available help them. Haitians are suffering from infections and other ailments without the effective medications and professionals to treat them. Hundreds of thousands of injured persons and children are scattered among Port-au-Prince's survivors squatter camps without protection against disease and that can easily lead to a second wave of death, the after the earth quake deaths that are preventable.
