The construction of a training institution
If education is the key to success, then the young people in these rural villages are doomed to failure. Jean Robert Lynce, a member of Haiti relief, had a chance to meet with some of these young people at l’Islet Beach close to the town of Les Cayes in Haiti. The way they explained their situation to him showed that these people yearn for an opportunity to better themselves. They told him that they have dreams like everybody else, but there are no ways for these dreams to come true. They said, “We don’t have a good school. As for training, we don’t even need to talk about it, because no one thinks about our existence. As a matter of fact, we all were born poor, we grew up poor and we die poor, and we have no way to stop this cycle.”
Haiti Relief wishes to establish a Trade/Professional school where these young adults can come to learn a marketable skill such as sewing, carpentry, mechanics, shoe making, and furniture making. It is the hope of this organization that by having these skills, the people of these two sections will become more self-sufficient and will be able to at least provide for their own needs, and have a chance to fulfill their dream of having a better life.
