Medical Clinic
According to a survey conducted by the public health department of Les Cayes these two sections suffer from many preventable diseases. The most prevalent illnesses include: tuberculosis, malaria, typhoid, high blood pressure, diabetes, diarrhea malnutrition, tetanus and A.I.D.S.
According to the public health census, these diseases affect more than fifty percent of this particular population. The reason for this great epidemic is the lack of a medical system that the local people can readily access. Currently, these two sections do not have a medical clinic of their own. This lack of medical care has led to the staggering statistics that fifteen out of every fifty new born babies die before their third month of life. Haiti Relief intends to alleviate this problem by offering the people of these two sections with a small medical clinic that will educate the local people on what to do to improve their health, tend to the sick, and dispense needed medication.
